The Vet, the Realtor, and the Mortgage Broker October 25, 2007

Today was San’s first trip to the vet. We were worried, but she did great. She didn’t like it, but was amazingly calm. We got her a checkup, her first distemper shot, and her rabies shot. Turns out she’s not 3 months, like we guessed, but actually about 5 months old. We were shocked, considering Kat’s Pipkin is close to th same age and he’s a monster size kitty, while San is very petite. The vet could tell by her teeth-she only has one baby tooth left, and it’s loose. I had no idea cats had baby teeth.

She’s very healthy, no belly bugs like Kenshin. She does have ear mites, for which we got drops. The nice nurse even clipped her nails for us and showed me how to do it. We went ahead and got a 3-pack of flea stuff. I haven’t seen any on San, saw 3 on Kenshin since we got him. He’s too young for meds, but the Vet said Dawn detergent (the plain blue kind) will kill any on him. He’ll be old enough for the meds in a couple of weeks.

One very gross (make sure you’re not eating) side effect of the dewormer on Kenshin is his poop has gotten worse. It’s now so liquidy that it gets all over his fur and he proceeds to drip it on the floor. Thankfully Mom tipped me off long ago to a great carpet cleaner. I spent yesterday cleaning biddy poop spots off the carpet. Think we’re gonna spring for the pricier carpet cleaning service when we move.

Speaking of which…

We signed for a house! It’s even closer to Chris’s work than we currently live (walking distance-about 2 blocks). It’s a 3 bedroom, 1 bath, with a fenced in backyard, an eat-in kitchen, and hardwood flooring in the living room, hall, and one bedroom. The other two bedrooms have carpet.

The only repairs it needs are cosmetic, paint and eventual replacement of bedroom carpets. It has a cedar tree in the front yard! My fave kind of tree. It is on a slightly busy road (but only 2 lane, and most travelers live in the neighborhood). It’s across from a BP station, tho again, not as scary b/c it’s in a neighborhood. The price is 71,900, so we’ll be paying a little more than we wanted (between 550 & 600 a month-our current apt. costs 550). Still, we’re ecstatic, if terrified. We’ve got so much to do! Aaaahhh!

Anyway, our fabulous realtor, Melissa, sent us to our wonderful mortgage broker, Scott, and we filled out our preliminary paperwork. Gotta collect paystubs, ect. and get it back to him as soon as possible next week, so we can sit and wait.

We close on or before Dec. 5th, and will take possesion of the property by the 26th of November. Pray for us and wish us luck!
